I was watching a show on VH1 the other night about the Arsenio Hall show. They showed a clip of Sting playing "Purple Haze".Vinnie was killing it! Does anybody happen to have this on video tape? I would like to have a copy if possible!

haven't seen the Arsenio clip, but Vince kills that tune on the Sting: The Soul Cages Live vid... it made me want to finally play that song, after so many begging attempts from fellow guitarists... [img]wink.gif[/img]
see if you can get a hold of the Soul Cages vid, you will not be upset...

yeah Mark! I caught that on the show and Vinnie was tearing it up! WAY more than on the Soul Cages video. (which is excellent)
I don't have a copy of it either but would like to get it.

My PC's takin' a whoopin' ever since I've added the nifty video capture device, but when I've the time I'll mpeg you the Soul Cages Concert so you can have a copy (I'll try the VCD thing, cuz it works on some DVD players, but I'm not promising anything, and worse comes to worse you can see on your PC). It'll be from a LaserDisc copy (yes, I said LaserDisc) so sonically and visually it'll be more superior than the VHS. I'll keep ya posted on my progress.

I've never seen the Arsinio Sting performance. If anyone has a vid clip of it send it my way and I'll get it on the site.

I caught that (brief) segment [of VC doin "Purple Haze" w Sting] on the VH1 Arsenio "docum" tonight...
Of course, VC was doin a nice job of it, of what u could hear...
It'd DEF be nice to see that entire segment from that orig Arsenio show W/OUT all those @#$%&! "voiceovers" [img]wink.gif[/img] ...
Mark L - didja catch it? [It'll be broadcast again Sat (see my above post) 4 those of u who didnt catch it again this time]...
BTW - did any1 catch the re-incantation of "The Doors" w the frontman from "the Cult" on Craig Kilborn tonight? Who was that playin drumkit w/ them? Was it Billy Ward? I wasnt quite sure, but it kinda looked a lil bit like him in the [very sparse & erratic] "drum-cam" shots [whoever it was did a fine job, I thought]...I thought Stew Copeland was supposed to be their drummer, but had some physical injury that they were waiting on to heal...evidently they didnt wanna wait that long....

Yeah, Stewart broke his arm or wrist...something like that. He broke his collarbone when the Police did their reunion thing, so he didn't play on their remake of "Don't Stand So Close To Me". I think he broke that playing polo. With chops like his, he should learn to be more careful! [img]mad.gif[/img] At least for our sake!

Well, as nice as it wouldve been to see Stew w em, he'd better watch out; that guy they had w em on Kilborn did a fine job [img]wink.gif[/img] ...[Billy Ward?! [img]confused.gif[/img] ]...
Relat'g to the Arsenio deal...the only VHS 'archives' that i have from 2 of those orig shows fr the '80s r the segments w/ Winger [w Hot-Rod Morgenstein] & Bad Engklish [w Deen Castronovo]...both r poor visual quality from a TV connection that had an "antenna[!]" [snowy picture - remember "antennas", kids?!], & it was taped on 1 of those old 1-or-2-head, MONO VCRs [e-gadd - remember THOSE, kids?]...[both drummers did a fine job, esp Rod...Deen threw in a nice wicked 32-note DB/toms fill on "Best of What I've Got," & tossed his stix way up hi on another break [a' la' Neil Peart] & caught them just b4 the downbeat while playin sextuplets on DB;...& Rod smoked "Headed 4 a Heartbreak" & "Hungry," being very 'drummusical' in rock-pop]....
